JOB PURPOSE
The role of a Dietitian is to provide nutrition and dietetic services and health promoting education to patients, staff and community at large.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Dietetics
- Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to patients with a variety of health conditions requiring specialised nutrition intervention to augment medical treatment.
- Apply the nutrition care process to correctly assess, diagnose, plan, implement monitor, evaluate and document nutrition care.
- Liaise with medical, nursing, and other allied health professionals in planning and implementing the nutrition care of patients.
- Communicate effectively nutritional care plans to patients, family members or carers for seamless service during hospitalisation and upon discharge.
- Deliver care within the multidisciplinary team, attend ward rounds, team meetings or case discussions as necessary.
- Prioritise and manage a patient caseload according to the needs of the department or service.
Education & Training
- Participate in continuing professional development activities and relevant courses as appropriate.
- Assist in nutrition related research and quality improvement initiatives in the department
- Develop nutrition education materials for patients, and multidisciplinary teams with guidance from senior and principal Dietitians in the department.
- Deliver nutrition talks or workshops to patients and the public, and participate in the community outreach initiatives if required.
- Deliver departmental journal clubs and in-service training and education to other healthcare professionals.
- Assist in supervision of dietetic interns and polytechnic students, training of dietetic assistants with guidance from senior and principal Dietitians in the department.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain appropriate patient records, and departmental statistics as require
- Assist with administrative and operational duties as required.
- Assist in review and development of departmental care standards / guidelines based on the available evidence.
- Represent the department at meetings, and/or conferences as required
2.4 Foodservice
- Assist Food Services in education and training of foodservice staff in nutrition related issues.
- Liaise with Food Service colleagues on therapeutic diet requirements and meal delivery to ensure nutrition adequacy of meals served to WHC clients.
- Assist in Food Service audits and quality control initiatives to ensure compliance with prescribed nutritional plans and meal standards.
- Assist in menu development and analysis as may be required.
2.5 Other Duties
- Participate in non-dietetic activities supported by the hospital as may be required.
- Support good working relationship and team spirit with colleagues and WHC partners.
- Cover the duties of department colleagues when required
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the HOD (Dietetics)

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education / Training / Experience
- Degree in Dietetics from recognized university.
- A minimum of 6 months’ clinical internship.
- Eligible for membership with Singapore Nutrition & Dietetics Association or other professional association.
Professional License
- Accredited Dietitian of Singapore with Singapore Nutrition & Dietetics Association.
Attributes
- Proficiency in written / spoken English, fluent in spoken Mandarin, Malay or Tamil.
- Proven ability to work efficiently and independently.
- Competent in MS Office and Social Media.
